Laird's love of coffee was derived by the prerequisites of his dangerous sport where maintaining the highest level of focus is tantamount to surviving the ocean's most dangerous conditions.
My goal was to deliver Laird a logo that combined the raw intensity of the man's power and drive, with the richness of the coffee.
The result is a logo alive with organic grit, yet strong enough to use as a memorable compact graphic element. Lar's standup paddle board surfing is one of his trademarks, so it was nice to be able to take advantage of the "branch" like quality that the oar presented.
